Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Melanie began her career over 25 years ago as an Independent Mary Kay Sales Director – and, yes, she earned the Pink Car! After almost 6 years with Mary Kay, Melanie moved to US-based Watkins Inc., as Training Manager, and in 3 short years at the tender age of 29, was promoted to VP, Sales & International Training. She was later promoted to VP, International Sales & Marketing at the company’s US headquarters. Post-Watkins, Melanie continued to spearhead sales and marketing initiatives and revamp company operations for several leading US companies in the Direct Selling industry.

August 1996 marked a career move lasting 9 years when Melanie returned to Canada and joined PartyLite Gifts, Ltd. Her significant contributions brought about new heights of productivity for the Canadian operation, and earned her the position of President.

Melanie’s leadership, inspirational vision and winning persona have been acknowledged not only by colleagues and clientele, but also by the larger business community:

• Business Woman Canada Magazine featured Melanie on the cover of their November/December 2002 issue, along with a prominent article recognizing her business and leadership successes.
• Business Woman Canada Magazine named Melanie 2003 Women of the Year - In Celebration of Women Award for Large Business for her enviable record of organic business growth, due primarily to how quickly PartyLite became one of the top five Direct Selling companies in Canada.
• The Richmond Hill, Ontario Chamber of Commerce presented Melanie with their prestigious 2003 Business Achievement Award.
• Melanie was honoured with the 2003 Ivan P. Phelan Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contribution in the Direct Selling Industry. This esteemed award is the highest recognition within the industry for an individual that has contributed significantly to the goals of the Direct Sellers Association, as well as the growth of the industry in Canada.

Melanie attributes her success to three core beliefs:

In 2006, Melanie returned to Calgary where she followed her heart’s passion and Pay It Forward philosophy and opened
H-TRIO™ Incorporated.

The mandate for this unique company is simple, but revolutionary ~ bring people together to talk about Solutions for Positive Living. She wants to make the world a better place and believes bringing people together and empowering them is the best way to make that happen.

So it might surprise you to know that opening H-TRIO™ is not Melanie's ultimate goal. As a loving wife, mother of 3 and grandmother of 4, Melanie believes that our greatest hope – and best investment in the future – is to raise a generation of possibility thinkers – children who become empowered, caring, compassionate and confident adults. For it is this generation we will entrust with the world we have nurtured. As a result, H-TRIO was created to fund Children’s Camps, where children’s self esteem, confidence and hope can be nurtured.
